Like at any other area/thing we have to know terminology and its meaning to understand.
I won't educate you about engineering because this is not my area, but I can explain some terminology at woodworking which determines also pricing.
We usually see written at wooden products handmade, handcarved or handcrafted.
A lot of people think that's all the same but there is big difference, so let me explain so that you would know what you are looking, buying.
HANDMADE are almost all products on market where humans hand was present in some part of proces of creating although those hands did only put in and took out product out of machine or were made with power machines and some handwork.
HANDCARVED means that product is made with use of hand tools (carving knife, chisel, axe) and power tools (bandsaw, belt sander and other power machines).
And than we have term HANDCRAFTED where are in use JUST HAND TOOLS, a lot of will and skill set of human who is creating wooden products/creations. This way of crafting wood is also the most time consuming thats why products made this way are the most expensive among all, or they should be.
By knowing meaning of those words now you know why there is big difference in price although product in use can have quite same purpose.
With handmade cooking spoon you will stir soup like with handcrafted although we know that invested energy in product is felt by user.
One is product other is useful piece of art.
With which you will enjoy more?
Have a wonderful day! 💚🌳
