The most beautiful mornings are in the morning.

I never was a sleepy person, waking up at sunrise, carving spoon and seeing day brightening I love, but month ago I intentionally started to go in bed earlier than usual because it is said that the best sleep is between 10 pm and midnight and unintentionally started to waking up even before sun, at 4, 5am.

I knew that after surgery I won't be able to carve spoons, so I borrowed few books from my neighbour and among them was that book, 5am club. It came like ordered and I've immediately started to read it to see what lies behind waking up so early.

Now after reading it a half I can say it is amazing!

Before coming to half of book, I bought my own copy. Book is full of great sentences, sayings and quotes that you will want to underline and mark. This should teenagers read in schools to give them a push to beautiful life that comes in front of them.

But I recommend it to everyone.

Years ago on holiday I read a book written by Robin  Sharma, The Monk who sold his Ferrari, another great book.

Usually I take time to read books only on seaside where I try to give my "work" / carving spoons on a side just for a while, so my hands and fingers can rest and skin on fingers to regenerate.

Through year I often listen a podcasts or audio books meanwhile I carve, but now when I'm unable to carve I love taking physical book in hands, it's a different feeling than reading on phone or listening to it.

Or is this just mine thing to give my hands something to do because they really miss holding a knife and peace of wood. In past I years there wasn't a time that I wouldn't carve something for 17 days.

Can't wait to start handcrafting my spoons again!

     Enjoy mornings!

Handcrafted, handcarved, handmade, what's the difference

Like at any other area/thing we have to know terminology and its meaning to understand. I won't educate you about engineering because this is not my area, but I can explain some terminology at woodworking which determines also pricing.  We usually see written at wooden products handmade, handcarved or handcrafted. A lot of people think that's all the same but there is big difference, so let me explain so that you would know what you are looking, buying. HANDMADE are almost all products on market where humans hand was present in some part of proces of creating although those hands did only put in and took out product out of machine or were made with power machines and some handwork. HANDCARVED means that product is made with use of hand tools (carving knife, chisel, axe) and power tools (bandsaw, belt sander and other power machines). And than we have term HANDCRAFTED where are in use JUST HAND TOOLS, a lot of will and skill set of human who is creating wooden products/creations...

Everything begins with thought and action

As everything in life, one time is first time and as I started carving wooden spoons 8 years ago, totally green in that area I'm starting this blog, although my posts on Instagram and Facebook are some sort of blog, diery to share my experiences, thoughts from my work and life. Honestly said I never started a blog because of lack of time but in that moment life brought me some time to start with it and we'll see where this will goes.  Go with the flow, I'll say! Enjoy your day!  Gregor
